A sad incident.

I heard about it last night and the police have already suggested it is a "domestic" and no third party involved.

BUT - overreaction as they have closed the A939 for about 10 to 12 miles and the only reasonable alternative route is a detour of 60 miles so to get from Milton to Candacraig - about 15 miles on an A road turns into nearly 60 including some pretty nasty B roads or 80 miles staying with the A roads. The explanation from the police as to why - there is none.

According to the BBC the 18yo was a trainee Gamekeeper, but irrespective of that, it's not a good situation for the families involved.

Have just spoken to friends in the area, again. Word is that he was a trainee gamekeeper in Glenavon and also at colege up in Thurso. They were found in the house.

However, the police STILL have 12 miles of road closed forcing people to use the 60 mile detour. The feelings locally is that the police are totally over reacting and there is no reason to keep the main A-road closed and they will not say when they are going to open it. What are they doing - searching the whole stretch for a hair or two?

Lets turn a drama into a major crisis eh, FFS WHY????? if they are certain it was a domestic what the hell are they closing roads for, bloody stupid...unless someone here can explain? Not as if someone is running about with a .50 cal after all.

Have you seen the reports today ... apparently he was cleaning his shotgun when it went off and killed the girl. Two friends tried to stop him but he took his own life.

What was he doing with a loaded gun - inside the house? And why did he not check it before starting to clean it? It must have been loaded with two cartridges or the friends would gave had time to stop him.

Very sad.

If he was a trainee game keeper, who was responsible for his training? Is someone going to blame themselves for not getting the safety aspect across properly?

I feel most sorry for the friends who witnessed the two deaths.I dont think they will ever recover from seeing it unfold.
