West Yorks - FAC Variation performance

Is it just me having an unrealistic expectation, but:
  • If I sent my ticket back into West Yorks FLO's on the 19th Jan,
The cheque cleared my account on the 27th Jan,
I called on the 3rd of Feb to see if I can have my ticket back before the 13th Feb (Shooting Show)
....and they tell me that "nothing has been done with it", and that "it's 7th from the top" and that when I enquire as to whether I can have it back in time for the Shooting Show there's a sharp intake of breath.....am I being unreasonable to expect that in 11 working days (assuming they received it on the 21st) then the very least they would have done by now is make a decision, and that it doesn't take that long surely to look at 7 frikkin variations total in 6 working days such that I can have my ticket back in time for the show?

Really, they can't do 1 variation a day? doesn't that sound really stupid? Is there only one person can make that decision?

Is it just me? I hear of other forces doing a while you wait service - and yet others taking months, but this variation in Regional Forces service times is rediculous.

My police firearms dept. (Norfolk/Suffolk) are usually pretty much on the ball when it comes to variations.

They do say however, that if they have a large amount of renewals come in, they always take precedence over variations.

I can see the logic in that.

West Yorks are usually pretty good in my experience. They however I've not had a variation for over a year- if you are paying for a service though, waiting times should be reasonable and not extended

I submitted a variation application (one off/one on) in mid-November with a promised "same week" return to me - in reality it took four weeks. The reason given was lack of someone to sign off on the certificate Image:

South York's just did my 1 for 1 in 2 days! Yours shouldn't take much longer than that really. Are you asking for 7 extra slots?

Haha no - "7th from the top" as in there's 6 folks before mine - I'm the 7th, and then I was making a point about 6 working days from when I called, to needing my ticket back to get thru all 7 variations including the two on my ticket.

I always ask Derbyshire how long their lead time is and if it's inconvenient, they let me submit my variation and email me when the ticket is about to be processed to I can send it in.

I've never had anything take less than four weeks though...

Just got my ticket back from S Wales Police today. 1-4-1 took 2.5 weeks.

Some are same day if you go in person. Others take months and months...

Also, bear in mind you can buy at the show and ask them to post it to your RFD so you won't miss out without a ticket, it's a shame not to take it home but...
