Went up to see Adam (Dromia) and Kay recently to pick up some bits and pieces from the "Shed".

A little while ago I asked David if he could make a 'no gunsmith' scope mount for my Carcano and I have to say he came up trumps. The Carcano mount replaces the rear sight block and is adjustable for windage and elevation - I'm just waiting on another hand guard to arrive, which I'll cut to fit the mount.

I also threw him a last minute curve ball and got him to sort out a rail for my M95/30 to replace rear sight. This one needed a little work this morning (cutting to correct length and levelling), mainly because all he had to work from was the rear sight, but great work none the less.

To say I'm happy is an understatement and I can't wait to get them out on the range!
BTW The company and the rifles up there made the trip worth it on it's own.

It was mainly due to your help getting me pointed in the right direction to get up the the drive that I made it home.

I picked up hand guard for a M38 Carcano from a well known auction site and decided to have a break from study and spent the morning making a new hand guard for my Carcano from it.

It needs to be stained but here is the result
And all ready to go.
Looking forward to the first club shoot in March to give her first outing in a while - meanwhile it's back to the essay I was supposed to be finishing!

Well ... ... ... they're certainly different Grant, it's going to take a pretty robust scope to survive the battering the Steyr will give it.

Do I feel threatened going up against these in future Strath competitions ... ... ... err no!

Nice looking rifles

Some time back I bought a Romanian Mosin M44 carbine that had a scout mount and a NCstar scope on it but the scope/mount combo wouldn't hold zero and the scope itself only lasted about 100 rounds before it literally started falling to pieces!.In the end I took it all off and fitted a replacement rear sight leaf.

Strath doesn't have any competitions suitable for these rifles in this configuration. It's just for my shooting pleasure and in the case of the Steyr, the annoyance of others!

I have faith in the mount (Shooting Shed special ), but as for the scope it survived a 7.62 surplus from an 18 inch barrelled Ishapore but if it dies, it dies...

Not annoying as you think, but it does give us something to laugh at

Couldn't you "bend" the Strath S-Class rules to make them allowable?

I've little doubt that Davy will have done a superb job on the mounts clapclap

No need to bend the rules, both should fit the criteria - they just wouldn't be competitive.
