Guess what this is...

These lumps turned up today, the larger is 5"x10" (125,0mm x 25,0mm) coffee cup alongside for scale. First job was to lop 40,0mm off one end as the section is to be used for a separate job. The smaller piece will need cutting into two equal sized lengths although only one will be used.

So first question, how long did it take to cut the end off the larger diameter piece using my horizontal band saw with a slightly tired blade with a very leisurely cut rate, second question, what am I making?

Hmm! 8 mins for the cutting and a cylinder and piston for a small air-cooled engine.

I'm pretty confident you're making a trigger pin for an AR-15 teanews

Mostly swarf is about right, the larger section will be reduced to just over half the weight. I did calculate the before and after weights prior to ordering it however I have not stuck it on the scales yet to confirm.

Not had the pleasure of the shooting shed yet, I have bumped into David at Barton Road once.
