Dta owners

Guys I recently commissioned Davy (of shooting shed fame ;) ) to modify the mags of my dts srs covert.

I did this as with my chosen bullet ( the 208 Amax) I couldn't get anywhere near the lands and had to sacrifice some speed and powder room seating 68thou from the lands to get into the mag. The interesting thing with this modification is it opens up a whole new list of calibre's that were previously unavailable to dta owners purely because desert tech only make a short action mag and a magnum mag. With this modification carried out you can have a barrel in 284, 3006, 6.5x55 7.5x55, 270 etc.

Not only has this mag modification allowed me to load to the lands, Davy's fettling seems to make the mag run smoother than my other 2 (currently normal mags).

I want my other 2 mags doing and having spoken to Davy we both agree it will be easier and less costly to do a bulk batch as this will allow him to set up tooling etc and get into a set Rhythm. So are there any owners on here which would like to have davy breath his magic on their mags? If so please pm me and we can sort something out :)

I'm waiting to see what the new 10 round mags are like. Should be available in the next few weeks.

It looks basically like 2 normal mags put together into 1 mate.

Crikey that is a bit long... Danny you need to call in some time with your covert so we can take a look at this problem.

I'd seen the new photo on the Hide, and I'm not personally worried about the mag length. The only issue for me has been the formation of the mag lips, and the marks they have left on my brass. Was solved with a nail file.

Have to admit I'm also happy with the current seating depth available to me in 260 Rem with the current mag. Obviously have a different mag for 300 Win Mag configuration and that also works pretty well for me

If I get a 308 barrel I've considered the 208s like you Danny, as that's what I use for 300WM as well, so I may well then need to look at where the rear rib is in the new mags.

I would have thought the spacer will be in the same place mate. I'm surprised you don't struggle for space with your 260 mate what bullets you using? Many struggle for space with the 140's
