There is a handy 'total spend' tool though. You put in your total budget, it tells you your max bid.

You really need to go and see what you are bidding on.
Scotarms is on in a couple of weeks but the contents are very disappointing - for me at least - and I won't be going.

The commission takes the prices well over anything sensible for a private buyer, let alone anyone in the trade. The imported guns now attract 50% surcharge in VAT and commission, which is quite insane. Some of the rifles come out with a minimum price thats higher than high street retail for a brand new rifle with warranty!

Many of the older rifles in the sealed bid auction are in very poor condition and are frankly worth little more than scrap value, yet they have ludicrous reserve prices. IMHO the sealed bid should be abandoned, and these guns sold in normal auction fashion.

I have been shocked by some of the auction prices recently, there is an auction at the Bedford Peacocks site occasionally and there are very few true bargains.

I did pop down abit ago, as its only 5 mile away, and some rifles were in a very unloved state, battered, bashed, spots of rust, hardly cleaned.
I went mainly to look at Lee Enfields and a few of them were bitza's (bits of this, bits of that type.).
There are bargains to be had, but you really need to view them first.

There are occasional bargains however the days of the fifteen quid M44 are long gone, having said that I have just picked up a bit of a bargain which hopefully will be with me in the next day or two.

Me too - There is some ammo on there that is current stuff & with 'fees' way more than buying from any known RFD! - I think they just go fishing for the gullible or who cant be bothered to look up the real value of stuff?
