Resonance

I was watching that ex US sniper talking about the latest SL sniper rifle and ran a shot thru slow motion on Sky+ and was surprised (but I shouldn't have been really) as to the wiggle his scope made, front and rear of turrets.

I suppose, when you think about it, it is bound to resonate...bit like a barrel. Intriguing to see how much though.

Guess it's all about the scope going back to the same place each time.

Then I was reading Gun Mart, April edition I think when good old Yardley made me smirk and then think about the effect different grain has on transmitting or damping vibration in a 12G stock.

Bet one of you serious mob have researched this to death...what's the knowledge?

:D

There are a couple of good clips of the AI .50 in slow motion and the S&B visibly deforms under recoil to the degree that I would expect it to be damaged very quickly. Quite impressive in that respect. I know someone who sells ultra high speed cameras and we have discussed this on a few occasions.
