Resonance

I was watching that ex US sniper talking about the latest SL sniper rifle and ran a shot thru slow motion on Sky+ and was surprised (but I shouldn't have been really) as to the wiggle his scope made, front and rear of turrets.
I suppose, when you think about it, it is bound to resonate...bit like a barrel. Intriguing to see how much though.
Guess it's all about the scope going back to the same place each time.
Then I was reading Gun Mart, April edition I think when good old Yardley made me smirk and then think about the effect different grain has on transmitting or damping vibration in a 12G stock.
Bet one of you serious mob have researched this to death...what's the knowledge?
