A number of news sources (BBC, The Guardian, Moscow Times, and RT) have reported that arms maker Kalashnikov, Baikal, and Izhmash, sub divisions of Kalashnikov Group, have changed their brand logos as unveiled at an industrial meeting in Moscow. The change seems to be apart of a broader spectrum of changes to reintroduce Kalashnikov firearms as a symbol of peace and stability in the world. This is also the second time in almost a year that the company has changed it’s logo or brand name.

The Guardian says-

Equipped with a shiny new logo, shrugging off US sanctions and claiming its guns are “protecting peace”, the Russian weapons manufacturer Kalashnikov launched a major rebranding drive in Moscow on Tuesday.

Kalashnikov Concern, a new overarching brand that includes the famed assault rifles as well as hunting and sports weaponry, paid a leading Russian agency to design a new brand and renew its worldwide image
Lots of other stuff in this editon too.

To say that Kalashnikov "claiming its guns are protecting peace” is plain rubbish. I suspected when I did not see any Federation Army's T90 rolling down in Kiev city center but now we have the proof the Russians are going utterly soft !!! ****
Anyway, they wont fool us !! Eveybody knows the true purpose of creating the AK47 was to promote world democracy O:-)

In April 2012 the Izhmash was declared bankrupt. In November 2012, A proposal was made to merge Izhmash with Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (Izhmekh) under the new name "Kalashnikov". As of August 13, 2013, Izhmash and Izhevsk Mechanical Plant have been merged and formally renamed Kalashnikov Concern. So whilst the logo may be new KalashnikovConcern has been around for a while now.As a sidenote the delivery of my Dragunov Svd was held up by the bankruptcy of Izhmash and at this moment in time is the only one that has been delivered to the UK since KalashnikovConcern came into being.

I read an interesting article in an engineering magazine a few months ago that explained how Kalashnikov did not design the AK47 from scratch but developed and improved an existing German gun. If I can dig it out I'll post the reference.

Edit - here it is: http://eandt.theiet.org/magazine/2014/0 ... is-gun.cfm

Just out of curiousity Snayperskaya - hypothetically, lets say these Russian probes into EU member airspace and sneaky things with Subs (allegedly) - say it turned into a shooting match, who would you root for :D I'm genuinely curious to see just how far you'd go with this persona!

My life is too dull to have an alter ego - and besides, mine would probably be a clone of the first - you could say I'd be the dullest schizophreniac ever!
