Possible to buy rifle sections?

Not the best way of wording the title but what I'm looking to do is only buy the parts I want so that I can self build an AICS stock remy 700 308. I'd like to get a 700 SPS varmint 26" action/bolt/barrel but don't want to pay for the useless trigger, stock, trigger guard etc that I would replace (also don't want the faff of trying to sell the unwanted bits on).

Does anyone know if this is possible and from where in the UK?

Thanks!

I am not aware of anywhere in the UK where you can easily buy a new action and barrel for an SPS easily. Used R700 actions do come up from time to time however you need to budget for GBP300-350 for the action alone and then have a barrel of your choice fitted. The alternatives are buy a R700 clone custom action and start from there or look at some of the builders who do AICS based systems. You also see used rifles of a similar specification come up form time to time for GBP1200 and less.

Sadly the UK is not the easiest place to find such parts however it can be done if you allow some time.

It might be worth talking to Baldie Dave at Valkyrie rifles.

The previous importers used to sell new barreled actions...sometimes...BUT
It was cheaper to buy a complete new SPS Varmint & bin the bits you didn't want

If you want a new Remington 700 sps varmint. 308 you'd best get your order in because I've just got mine after an 8 month wait and I had to contact Remington to get things moving. When mine eventually turned up there was only one other available in the UK. Might have changed now mind.

We must speak a different language... £764 for an SPS Varmint & "fairly cheap" don't belong together in the same paragraph.
That's more than I've paid for ANY rifle....inc. my WW2 Remington sniper!!

Have these doubled in price lately or something? An SPS is NOT a £700+ gun....esp. with their tuppershite bendy stocks

I see where you are coming from and one or two shooters in my club have done the same.

Although 'Saddler' thinks that £764 is over-priced for a Remington SPS, it's not too bad for a brand new Remmy action, barrel and trigger. When bedded into a decent stock, they usually shoot amazingly well.

We've built one or two rifles on Remmy actions from shot out Remmys bought on Guntrader but even for an old action you're looking at £3-400 so £764 is realistic and hey - you might get a 'deal' on that.

Alternatively, if you're not set on an AI stock, have a look at the Savage 'tactical-style' rifles - quite good value.

Oh...leads is it?

Should have said.

Guntrader.
SEVERAL Remington 700 rifles in .22-250 (same bolt face/action length as .308) for a touch over £400

See if ya can get someone to sell a new SPS for that price...though a paltry £350+ savings, barely worth bothering with for some buyers, no doubt
