Re: Notifying the police
I think it's down to the individual force in question.
I've only ever emailed section 1's... Not transferred my section 2's from my dad's yet (not had any need to!).

Re: Notifying the police
All transfers or losses must be reported within 7 days to the police, as per the 1997 Ammendment Act.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Notifying the police
I notify my FLO (Beds & Herts) of all transfers, S1, S2 and RFD by email and get a reply that states:
Thank you for your email which will receive attention as appropriate during office hours.
If you are notifying us of the acquisition or disposal of a weapon please take this reply as confirmation it has been dealt with.
Kind Regards,
Firearms Licensing
I keep the electronic receipt as proof of the transaction however I also confirm everything by hard copy although I do not send the letter by recorded mail.

Re: Notifying the police
Used to send everything recorded delivery but Sussex are happy with email so that's how I do it now.

Re: Notifying the police
I use email for just about everything now (e.g. buy/sell) except variations.

Re: Notifying the police
Although by the letter of the law notification has to be by registered post or recorded delivery service, all police forces I have dealt with seem to be OK with an email notification.
If email is now considered a recorded delivery service then records of the email(s) should be kept securely, but for how long and by whom?
