I acquired some tubs of Ramshot powders a while ago I have been using them in .308 and 6.5x55 I am impressed with the results. They meter really well and you can buy them in 500g tubs so keeps the cost down. I would like to try more of the Ramshot range I have been reading up on load data. I just need to decide on which ones to stock up on. Any body else got any experience load data for their powders in .308 6.5x55 7.63x39 .303 7.62x54 .222.

Wild Boar took my 24" barrel .308 from 2730fps with TR140 to 2920fps which meant it could be supersonic at 1000yds (just). Needed a better case (RWS) than the PPU I was using to be comfortable.

I use Ramshot Tac in my 308 and 223. Pic attached are two 5 shot groups from my 20" Tikka T3 using 155gr Lapua bullets. Very happy with it. I use big game for my 303 and 8mm Mauser and these group good too. Second pic is with 303 174gr bullets, 10 shots at centre, the others were sighters. Range was 100m. For the price and the performance I get, why would I pay more for IMR or hodgdon powders? ImageImage

oooh, impressive ! We shoot many of those calibres too and are just slowly dipping our paws into the murky waters of pawloading... Perhaps when our existing tub of Viht runs out we'll take a look at Ramshot too...

Did you have spcific problems with PPU brass that the RWS solved? I understood PPU to be tough stuff.

PS which Ramshot powder are you using for 6.5x55?

For what it's worth I've used my 308 out to 1,000m with my loading above. It's a pretty cold load with a short barrel so I have to dial in 12.5 mils to get it on target! For a fig11 I can usually get 4/5 hits if I do my part, although I reckon the gun and lead is capable of hitting every time.

I'm currently using Ramshot wild Boar in my .308 Steyr SSG P1. Too be honest I have not found a powder it did not like its stunningly accurate at any distance its a doddle to re load for. I was using Ramshot Magnum in my 6.5x55 but I have ran out.

Bolt lift became stiff with the PPU cases and the case base diameter increased although the primers were largely unchanged. Working up a load with the RWS there was no bolt lift stiffness and case base diameter was unchanged. I wasn't happy shooting the PPU loads. The PPU cases are fine with the TR140 loads I use.

I followed the published Ramshot load data
