My own favourite, If favourite is the right word to use in the context of what these pictures portray, is that of the Lochnagar crater at La Boisselle . I have visited the site on several occasions and after one visit a few years ago I discovered the friends of Lochnager website. I sent them a very modest donation to help with the ongoing restoration. I was more than a little surprised when sometime later I received a postcard depicting the cross at Lochnagar it had a hand written message of thanks from the owner of the site Richard Dunning written on the back. For those with an interest in WW1 who have not visited and who find themselves in the region, do not miss out on the opportunity of visiting the crater.

These websites are excellent and if you will excuse the pun are a 'mine of information'![]()
