Is it a requirement for clubs to hold a copy of every member's FAC, or is it sufficient to record the FAC number and expiry date?
Any HO guidance on this?

No club I have been a member of has ever asked for a copy of my FAC, and they do not record the FAC number/expiry date.
The only bit of info I put down on the attendance register at Diggle P.S.S.A is my membership number, the calibre and the rifle serial number that I am using on that day.
I am sure that if it was a HO requirement then Diggle P.S.S.A. would have asked for it so I guess the answer to your questions is NO.

The form our club uses for renewal of annual membership asks for our FAC number and expiry date. FAC holders joining us from other clubs are required to produce their FAC on initial joining to satisfy the club secretary of their status. Due diligence and all that sort of thing.

Not a requirement in the H.O. rules that I am aware of.
Our club obviously requires to know if a member holds a FAC or not, but as we operate an absolute rule that everyone joining the club regardless of profession, military service or possession of FAC must serve the 6 month probationary period it's a bit academic. We do ask on the application for membership form for certificate number/s and date of issue so I suppose you could say that is recorded as the original application form along with the required declarations are maintained by the membership secretary. We certainly don't maintain a copy of the members FAC and actually try to restrict the amount of information to the absolute minimum we are required to keep. We also restrict access to this information to only those officers of the club that need access to it. So a strictly need to know basis.

Thanks everyone, that's good to know. I thought it was a bit OTT.
