I was out on the range today and had a case head separate (seperate? Spell check is telling me different).
Anyway, it was a 300Win Mag Winchester case on its' first reload - starting load to keep me honest on the range. The first two went fine and had no untoward pressure and no sign of incipient separation.
Now I have to get the remainder of the case out of the chamber. I'm thinking a threading tap in the case would grip it enough for a rod to tap it out.
Any other suggestions?

Could you use Cerrosafe and then knock it out with a rod.

When I had this happen with a 7.62 once the rifle had cooled down the case dropped out on another occasion when the case was stuck a piece of threaded rod was screwed into it just enough to grip and it came out with ease .

I have split case extractors in 223,303, 308 after I had a split case in my SMLE they are simple to use just shut the bolt on them and then open the bolt and the split head just comes out as easy as that

Cerrosafe method worked for me.

If you have a bronze brush in say 45 cal, push it through the case and pull back against the neck? Worked for me once!

What are you going to do about your headspace once the stuck case in removed? A once fire case shouldn't seperate unless you have excessive headspace.

Can you compare a fired case with a new one?

They headspace on the belt at the case head and is ok.
