Hi all new to the .223 and could do with a couple of nice (hot) fox loads for a tikka 223 super varmint. 1:12 twist.
Bullet ,powder,primer load data and velocity's.i have hand loaded a couple of thousand 44 mag rounds but no rifle as yet.
Also recommended factory ammo to start out with. hoping to get the rifle later this week. :flag5:

Why do you want hot loads ? If 223 isn't fast enough, maybe you should have got a 22-250. ???

You're going about it all wrong. What you want is nice and accurate. Speed is irrelevant at standard fox distances. Take a 50gr polymer tip. Drive it at 3300-3450 and you're all good.

I shot 25.5gr Benchmark, 52 amax and a Rem 7 1/2 primer today, seemed to group nice enough. Tbh, it's a fox, it's a bloody great big target relatively close, anything which groups tightly will leave him nice and dead.

What does you reloading handbooks and powder manufacturers say about 223 recipes, that is the place to start.

Asking cold on the internet is bad practice and dangerous, "hot" loads indeed!

Winchester case (lots of capacity), small magnum primer, fill to the top of the case with Bullseye powder and compress the charge with the heaviest .224 bullet you can find. That should be hot enough for you, and that will be the hottest .223 internet load you will ever find.
If you and your rifle survive that go buy a good reloading manual and work up a load using a suitable bullet from the data in the manual don't go listening to fools on the internet.

Fox are not hard to kill, all it requires is a bullet of suitable design and a moderate not superfast, accurate load.
Alternatively you could go out a buy a couple of boxes of Winchester Varmint X ammo which is fairly cheap and has been on special offer until recently. It works well in most rifles and having tried it myself I would recommend it for the non reloader.

If ever there was an argument for compulsory hand loading courses this thread has to be it.

Why do some people have to take the p*** !
obviously i want it to be a very accurate load and a safe load !!
all i asked for was some good starting loads and not powder p**f target loads.
i reload several different loads in the 44 mag depending where i am using it.
sometimes a very low power load for a 25 yard indoor club and sometime a very hot load for an outdoor shoot.
so what was wrong in asking for a (hot) load for the 223 for charlie ?
sometimes i feel like a naughty schoolboy on the forum for asking something not a 50+ man !!
