The eldest & expensive sprogledite looks likely to be off to Uni in 2015. She's found a couple that will let her in to learn how to make drugs & synthesise explosives in their labs, all jolly good fun wtfwtf , but they also most importantly have rifle clubs :-) :goodjob:
But what to do about an FAC for her? - all her 'kit' is on my & clubs FAC, she full member of club(s) / NSRA & will be of NRA by then too. If she applies for an FAC here (Herts) what happens if say she goes to Uni in say somewhere in the fair county of York's? (Sorry York's I will try to give some warning if she does come up there ok) Does she need to get another FAC 'Ooop North?' & do they charge for it on top of the local one (Dawwn Saff) ? or can she keep her FAC here & lodge gun there in a club so on both & 2 counties? etc?
Obviously it may come back here in summer etc, or post grad, or on tour! sign85
What's good advice / arrangement then peeps?

Sounds like my uni days (I couldn't believe the substances I had to make or extract in my first year - maybe the lecturer was selling stuff) but make sure she doesn't spend all her time at the rifle club and associated bars like I did!
According to Iain (who is ensconced in a comfy armchair without a computer) get her to apply for own FAC once she's 18 (if she isn't already) but at your address. Or pop round to our place next time you're passing and he can tell you himself
Love
Karen

Uni clubs are usually fine with looking after members' kit in the club's existing storage during term time. A quick email to the respective enforcement teams is rattled off, club Sec may want a squint at Miss Z's FAC and job jobbed.

We had 2 FAC holders at the UKC club who kept their guns down in Kent, I opted to keep mine in Bristol.
One stored his at the rifle club or at a RFD, the other installed a cabinet in his uni digs and liaised with both Surrey (issuing force) and Kent, he kept his FAC and Surrey added on his Kent address as a place of storage.
The issue is, if you want to store guns outside of a club and in your own digs is finding somewhere that will let you, all campus accommodation bans it and landlords vary greatly.

It probably depends when she applies. If she is applying prior to Uni then Herts would be obvious. As long as it is an address she can be contacted at it should be fine when she goes upt'north. Even when she goes she will probably switch address once a year as well so plod might like something more permenant. Thats how brunels fac ended up with thames valley anyway.

Is that Brunel as in YOU or the Uni? Just wondering as the Uni is within the Met area.

Him, though the FAC is moving to the Met area very soon.
The Home Office guidance has a section covering home addresses on FACs - the gist of it was that the address on your FAC should be one at which the bizzies can smash your door down at 5am and find you cowering in bed if they feel like it, rather than (effectively) a PO box.
