Well I tried to purchase a couple of bits from Numrich / Gunpartscorp for my Winchester 52, namely the bits below:

1330620 Magazine Release Plunger $6.40
1330630 Magazine Release Plunger Escutcheon $10.95

I emailed them to see if they would ship to the UK as it said they wouldn't to the UK / Germany but would to France etc, and I just thought it was someone getting confused as we are in the EU, well here is the response from them:

Hello,

We use the USPS to ship our parts . After the increased terror alert was issued a few weeks ago, they raised their restrictions and now will not export any parts to the UK.

So the UK and Germany are a hotbed of terror activity but not France where the farmers torch the local insurance office?

Well, we are now a major exporter of Islamic Terrorism so I'm not surprised...

I just checked the USPS website and sure enough they're right. This is going to affect other companies such as Brownells for one unless they start shipping UPS which will be more costly.

It is a worry, we have some parts heading over from the USofA right now and they were OK to ship when the order went through however things are not so good now if we take the latest USPS prohibition list into account.

Simon, as already stated just get a bundle box address as they use Fedex. So far both Fedex and UPS have no restrictions

I've used "freight forwarders" before and particularly the little machine shops that make bespoke parts for obsolete guns are very wary of these. It seems the US government has got those sorts of businesses really worried should they inadvertently or be duped, into sending something they shouldn't overseas. The justice dept certainly does seem not to take this sort of thing lightly.

Ironic when you consider how many guns were "exported" from the US to the UK, firstly in "lend lease" then for use by terrorists in the Province!

The usual stuff through Brownells just a little more pricey because of the carrier....

As long as they don't realise they're shipping firearms parts Ask them directly and you might not get the answer you're looking for
