Don't know if anyone has done this before, but has anyone made their own shoot n c targets, I have a load of flourescent card, and I was wondering if I spray it Matt black, it would work the same??

Why don't you try it and find out?

You may need something on the card first to stop the paint from soaking in/sticking too hard (unless it's very glossy card) like a varnish or suchlike?

It does if you tape the paper first, use some cello-tape or similar over the card and then spray it afterwards and you get nice 'shatter' marks to show up the point of impact.

Thanks, I'll try that and sellotape the card and spray over that.

I tried it with clear sticky backed plastic , but the paint doesn't stick all that well to it so it tends to flake off in your hand . To be honest by the time you have bought all of the materials and the time spent making them for an inferior product its not worth the hassle .

I actually laminate the neon paper with the laminator, then spray over with black bumper paint.

Yeah I make mine all the time. You'll need plastic though as it won't flake off painted cardboard.

You'll need:

1. Fluorescent yellow/pink/green A4 paper. Paper is better than card as it's cheaper and you can roll a bunch up to take to the range. Just staple it to your wooden target frame. Flourescent yellow seems to work out best. Get mine from Staples.

2. Helix sticky back plastic, it comes in rolls so many metres long. Get mine from Staples.

3. "Chalkboard" or matt black spray paint from B&Q. Gloss is no good as it doesn't flake off as well when shot. Some matt black's are too flaky when transported so always go for "Chalkboard" range.

Take A4 sheet or put two together to make bigger target then cover in helix cut to measure with a bit of overlap to fold over like book cover. Spray on paint. Leave to dry. Might want to spray red dot for centre of target or sticker.

It took a bit of testing to get the right type of paint as some work better than others but now mine work perfectly and can be folded/transported without marking.

Ends up like this:
