The cost of shotgun licences will be increased to help save the jobs of 1,000 police officers if Labour wins the next general election, Yvette Cooper, the shadow home secretary, has announced.
Police forces would be told to operate gun licensing schemes “at cost” rather than at a loss, as at present.
That settles it - only vote Labour if you support attacks on our sport.

Electioneering clap trap - usual labour guff, just playing on the public's alleged fear of guns.

Question is what is the cost? The bullshit £200 or the more realistic £60?
In pretty sure I know which one

So, through mismanagement, they need to cut funding to services. Instead they decide to attack working men and women. Typical Labour.

From an utterly untested and untried source, the outrageous rumour I've heard regards funding, is going to have us wishing it was 200 quid!

What are you's talking about, shooting is the preserve of nobles and toffs who can easily afford to pay more for terrible service. Just ask the 9000 FAC/SGC holders in North Durham, the safest Labour seat in the country

South Wales Police accidentally let slip that it's £57. I have heard the number £88 more than once while talking to various people about the inevitable FAC fee rise.
Would you believe there are shotgun shooters (as in tweeds and no more than two shots per reload) who not only support a 75% increase in the cost of an FAC, but also think we should start paying (or paying more) for things like club FACs, variations and section 11(6) permits?

The flat cap-wearing Tweed brigade are the enemy within.

Well it only goes to confirm my opinion that Yvette Cooper is an utter talent vacuum. Just like Red Edd's speech she has wheeled out another bogey man for the left that they will try and screw money out of.
Pure political grand standing to appeal to the Labour core vote who think all who shoot are a) Wealthy toffs b) Nasty, without any real sense of what it would really raise.
An extra £9 million pounds per year?! Is she kidding us or is she blind stupid? That is in funding terms PEANUTS! The overall overtime bill for the Police across the nation is £1 million PER DAY!!!! Dealing with the Police and it's crazy level of overtime or even just reducing it by a few percent would be far more effective paying for more officers!
