A new Støtteben Mk III F/TR bipod

#1 Post by Ovenpaa »

We decided earlier this year to no longer build our Støtteben F/TR bipods. This was for a variety of reasons however despite saying no more people keep asking for them and the success of our bipods at the recent European F Class competition has provoked even more interest. Therefore I am considering a further build of bipods with what will be the Støtteben Mk III F/TR bipod.

This new bipod will give the same width and elevation ranges as before, be slightly lighter than the previous versions and has some unique design changes to give what we believe is amongst the absolutely best F/TR bipods in the world.

If you are interested in one of this new build of bipods please let me know as I would like to get a feeling for how many to build.

David - could you possibly post more details - perhaps photo and an idea of cost etc.?

Thanks.

Rob, cost will be in line with the precious versions so around the GBP250.00 mark, the provisional specification is as follows:

Main bipod assembly: 6082 T6 aluminium
Finish: Anti glare vapour honed with black anodised surfaces.
Screws: A4 Stainless Steel.
Elevations shafts: Stainless Steel
Elevation nuts: 316 stainless steel
Weight: Approximately 625 grams
Weight of optional toggle lock 30 grams
Maximum recommended width: 785,0mm (31 Inches)
Maximum recommended height: 380,0mm (13.5 Inches)

Visually the MkIII will look similar to the earlier MkII version however there are changes to further enhance tracking and to make the proposed new weight plus some other changes.

I would prefer not to publish the exact nature of the upgrades at this stage.

This is the earlier version for reference.

When are they likely to be ready?

Mike, it is entirely down to interest, I am in a position to start building very shortly so allow 3-4 weeks however I need to batch the build to around 12-15 units to be economically viable.

I'm interested Dave, put me down for one but if they are unlikely to proceed then please let me know as I'll need to buy an alternative. Good luck.
