When you see them on sights saying airsoft, are they just covering there arses or are they no good for rimfire.

They're saying they're s*** and if you put one on a rimfire and it breaks tough luck.

I put an airsoft/paintball red dot on my shotgun and it literally cracked up. It lasted a few hundred rounds though and I suspect it would have been fine on a 22rf.

I'm planning to glue it back together and give it a try.

Why bother?

You get what you pay for, and there are some reasonably priced red dots / scopes on the market with a lifetime guarantee...

A friend who got me into shooting (who is a member of this board) is known to use the phrase "buy once, cry once". This is so true for cheap scopes, as I found when I blew one out once.

For .22LR, airsoft scopes are probably going to be 'fine' as long as you get a good one. The problem with them is that very often they can't be fully sighted-in as the mechanics are made of cheese.

That scope blew out spectacularly !!! The look on your face of 's*** did that really happen' with the glass hanging out..... Priceless.

With the availability of value scopes with good warranty there is little need for airsoft toys. I'd buy value glass but prefer quality optics, the difference for such a little difference in outlay is vast.

With players like vortex, sightron and even MTC now .... Why wouldn't you?

... Buy once cry once ;)
