I have a 22 Anshutz target rifle which currently has a scope and bi-pod fitted ,what i was wondering is can you purchase a moderator which would fit on the end of the barrel (ie slip over) instead of having it screw cut

You may find an air rifle one that will do that, obviously would need to be added to your fac though.

Doubtful. ..never seen any such non-threaded units outside of the 1939 Parker Hale catalogue
You'll need to have an adaptor made up that clamps to the barrel and allows use of a threaded mod

You can get adapters that allow mods to attach to un-threaded air rifle barrels .. There might be a rimfire version ..

Something I wouldn't even consider with a rimfire. If you want a moderator on your rifle do it properly and get the barrel threaded by someone who knows what they are doing and not by a Fred in the shed type.
(Ovenpaa and the Shooting Shed are different).

Absolutely. The moderator adaptors for airguns that attach with a couple of grubscrews cause enough trouble at 12 fpe, so I dread to think what havoc they would cause at 100+ fpe!
Do it properly, and get the barrel threaded. By the way, some police forces don't allow moderators for target shooting - even quoting 'health and safety' as a reason for wanting one falls on deaf ears.
