Well i just arrived home from a few days away to find my nice new shiny FAC waiting on my doormat! :shakeshout: party2

excitedly I tear open the envelope, scribble my name on the front, groan at my picture, and tentatively unfold the crisply folded certificate. look down my list of firearms, all good. move on down to my newly requested variations, all looking good, BUT WAIT!!!

tesnews

my request for a 45 rifle has transformed into a slot for a 45 pistol! :( sign01 **** :cool2:

was so excited to see it on the doormat as it would mean i could rush out today, and collect my nice new shiny 45acp rifle that is waiting for me at a local dealer. BUt no, now i have to wait until tuesday before i can even talk to my FEO.

anyone know if this is a quick fix? would they be able to do a quick swap on it if i take it down to them on tuesday?

frustrating is not the word! lol

You could get a .45 front stuffer...or do the humane destruction course/meet deer stalking requirements and have the conditions added for something more modern

i have a slot .38/.357 pistol on there for a 'front stuffer'. (assuming you mean something like a westlake armscor)

never looked into humane destruction course/meet deer stalking requirements tbh. i'd like to get into more proper fullbore though

I'd keep a copy to use as evidence against further calls to increase fees...

In theory ..... you ring the FLD and tell them they've cocked it up, get them to re-print it and pop along to swap certificates.

In practice (Durham of course),

Question #1. You've crossed out the semi-auto bit for my AR10 rifle and changed it to Bolt Action, this leaves me with an illegally held firearm (pre semi auto ban)

Answer, They're going to be banned at some point (was about 6 months later) so get rid of it. Sent them a nice letter threatening legal action and they took it back and crossed out the "Bolt Action" bit with a red pen.

Question #2. Why is the Chief Constables signature on my bit, have I got a new job?

Answer, Don't worry about it just sign his bit or if you're worried because it's invalid/illegal send it back in and we'll change it, only took 2 weeks.

Question #3. Can you change the "Bolt Action" condition for my 300 Blackout to single shot, break barrel?

Answer, Yes, it will take at least 2 weeks for background checks

Me, Why? it's already on my FAC and approved?

Durham, Because we have to check that you're OK to have it

Me, But you've just done that when you put it on my FAC 2 weeks ago?

Durham, Well it will take 2 weeks anyway.

Followed by phone calls about not being able to put "Break Barrel Single Shot" on as an action type. Told them to just leave it off as not required by the H.O. and if they hadn't put Bolt Action on in the first place none of this would be happening anyway!. Then a phone call to Dromia (as he's my RFD) who told them nicely to put nothing or Single Shot or Break Barrel or whatever they wanted to!.

Hopefully your FLD are a bit more efficient/sensible/not totally bloody useless

fingers crossed! at least they arent asking for action type on my ticket, so thats one less issue.

so should i ring his mobile number that is on his email? or leave it till tuesday?

well i got variations for a 9mm and 38/357 rifles this time round, so i suppose worse case he'd do a like for like changing the caliber of the 38/357 to 45?

i had already spoken to him as well reguarding the bullets, and a conversation along the lines of, 'i see you have a uberti 44 pistol, when/where did you get it? what happened to the pietta 44 that you had' i've never had a 44 pietta 'ah, ok so its been an uberti all along??' yes
