Does anyone who club(s) uses Field Firing Areas know if the ranges used have moving targetry? If so, are you permitted to use them, and under what conditions? If not, do Landmarc simply disable them for the duration of your booking?

Landmarc East have apparently now installed moving targetry on two ranges within the STANTA complex, and, as a result, decided civilian clubs will no longer be permitted to use these ranges. (NRA trained RCOs are not qualified to run such courses of fire).

I am trying to get a picture of what happens in other regions.

That's because it's 'sarts' targetry. And until the NRA pull their fingers out of each other's arses, no civvy club will be allowed to use the [simple to use] system. All they need to do is arrange a day on a sarts range and run, in conjunction with the mod, a 'familiarisation day' on the sarts system. But, they were told this in march, but still nothing.

Not a problem at Ash. We were shown how to use the SARTS system by the Range Warden and have been back several times.

Ive asked if this is part of the SARTS upgrade, and haven't been given a response yet.The ranges in question are due to be upgraded shortly, so have assumed the are putting in moving targetry at the same time.

I do accept that myself, and others as NRA trained RCOs cannot run courses of fire which involve moving targetry. As a result we have simply left the movers in the down position during each detail. (This was on the pre SARTS targetry system). I'm assuming the same would be possible with SARTS?

Landmarc East are presenting this as a moving target, rather than a SARTS issue. (We have been told we can continue to use a FFA which has no moving targets). I am trying to get clarity from Landmarc, but their admin staff are acting as a communication conduit for the range warden who made the decision.

Based on my club's experience with the NRA, Mr Mercer in particular, over the last 12 months I have no expectation of them supporting us through this issue at all!

Well I will say, you lucky bugger.

I am 'sarts qualified' through my job, but Landmarc Spta still won't allow any civvy clubs to use them, even if I operate the system for them. It's beyond stupid. Still, I'm sure it will all change come November, hopefully for the better, but I won't be holding my breath

Still waiting for Mr Robertson to respond to an age limits issue I raised with him in 2013.

Mr Mercer actually attended our club committee meeting earlier this year to address the above, but subsequently failed to follow up on the actions he agreed the NRA would take forward with Landmarc.

Bugger, I have just looked, and seen Jon's note on the Grove website regarding Great Carr and Robin's Lodge sign01 .

I presume that also applies to Archers, so we are completely off STANTA until further notice?

I have been toying with joining the NRA as an individual member for some time, this is the final straw, I will do so tomorrow. Better inside the tent pi55ing out.............

Can't comment on what Mr Mercer may or may not have done but can certainly poke Mr Robertson for you!
