Caledonian Classic Arms Vz58 M.A.R.S. - who has one?

Hello all,

Hoping someone can help. As was expected Durham haven't heard of the M.A.R.S. action/don't believe me it exists, and won't issue my FAC without an action specified, so my variation "probably won't be done in the 28 day turnaround period" Does anyone on here actually own one and which police force are you covered by. I need to know so Durham can speak with their FLD.

Many thanks

Scott contacted police Scotland when my variation was in and got them to sort it out when they never added the action , I just need to return my FAC to have the Mars added, so it may be worth contacting Scott to see if he can help.

Can't get hold of him (and i presume Durham can't either). Do you have another number for him other than 01505 843254?

Do Police Scotland have a single FLD?

I dont'd have another number for him, but you could ask Durham to contact Pitt street firearm licencing in Glasgow as they do all of Scotland and are aware of the Mars action as previously mentioned.

Info passed on and apparently Police Scotland use a different system to the NFLMS which is why the action type isn't showing up. Allegedly. God i LOVE buearucratic hoops(!) emrolleyes

So does anyone in England/Wales have one?? :cool2:

I was at a LERA comp a couple of weeks back and a member had one in 223.
He was pretty chuffed with it!
The brass was going along way out front and to the right.
He said it had been flawless and pretty accurate (no figures!)
We were on the ETR range at Ash.
Didn't get chance to interrogate him further!
I could quite happily go for one in 6.5 Grendal

If I may say so, I think you're going about this the wrong way.

Why are Durham <still> insisting on nominating action types on permissions to acquire?

Are they the only force doing this (Glos, TVP, Wilts, A+S certainly don't)?

Have you spoken to your organisation about this?

I've tried addressing the action (and calibre VS cartridge thing) with Durham but have just been shut down. With a line like "the NFLMS MUST have an action type stated and a specific cartridge", which i know is BS as when i got my last S1 shotgun put on my ticket it was just on as "12b multi-shot shotgun", no action type specified*. I also have shooting buddies from adjacent counties who don't have to specify cartridges or action types, just '22CF rifle' or similar

I want to speak with CCA before going to BASC as to be fair, if i can't get the rifle spec i want i won't be getting one. However even if i do get this sorted PDQ i think i'm going to go to BASC to see if there's anything that can be done about this inconsistancy across the country with how firearms are described on FAC's.

*Just found a scan of that very FAC

I note that in the 'acquire/purchase' section there isn't even a 'action type' box/header, where as in the 'possessed' section there is
