Latest fees rise vetoed by Cameron?

The Sunday Times reported yesterday that the Minister for UFOs - sorry, that raving Lib Dem lunatic minister now entrusted with firearms licensing - is claiming David Cameron vetoed the latest FAC fees rise.

No other media outlet has picked up on this (hence the lack of link) ... now is this true, or is it a Lib Dem trying to get some public attention by whispering in the ear of a desperate political hack during silly season?

Hasn't this "issue" been effectively buried for a good few months now anyway?

I could never imagine a Conservative government increasing firearms fees, somehow.

Total cobblers, the matter of firearms fees is being discussed by all relevant parties and the report is not due out for some time yet. Did anyone take the trouble to talk to BASC or the NRA about this before publishing?

I'm still waiting for the pre-election Tory promise to return .22 pistols to section 1 to materialise, though breath is not being held

It was reported a while back when ACPO started their quest for increased fees that Cameron vetoed the rise. Supposedly they went for a second bite of the cherry and allegedly Damian Green gave them a flee in their collective ear also...

Yep, a little more digging and it certainly does look like Baker is dragging stuff up.

This was reported several times a few months ago as Sim says, good to see the people at the times staying current
