Pewter?

Apologies if this has been covered before.
Seeing as pewter has a high tin content (95-99%) can I use it as a direct substitute for tin when casting or will the other elements present have any detrimental effect on the process. I am having trouble getting hold of tin sticks at a reasonable price but can always find scrap pewter kicking around.
As an aside, when moving house recently I found over a 1/4 ton of lead roofing sheet that I had forgotten I had :shakeshout: (I had hidden it under a tarp behind the shed!)
Time to get casting.

Pewter is fine Ian, close enough for pit work.

You don't need much tin, 1-2% is all that is needed.

Good stuff, thanks Adam.
I have a few knackered old tankards here that are beyond repair so its time to recycle them.
