At our clubs Historic Arms section this morning we were privileged to a discourse on early American breechloading military rifles, courtesy of our club chairman, Droomie.
Starting with the Model 1868, 50/70 Springfield Trapdoor through the 1873 45/70, 30/40 Krag Jorgenson, 30/06 03 Springfield to the venerable 30/06 Model 1917.
Many thanks to Droomie for a very interesting and informative morning.

...NOT anywhere near correct, though NOT the first time I've seen that variation from the norm
If he sends me that M1903 I'll forget all about his blatant mistake

Maybe not correct but it ties me in well that way for shooting and stops the rear tail flapping about on the butt ring.

Nope, not good enough
& here was me researching M1903 slings for the Krag too!
I'll collect that M1903 Springfield next week & give it a good home & sort out it's wobbly sling issue = about 14 seconds in

Yep seen that video but my way suits me better, I have the great fortune to have never been in a disciplined service.

Yes and fine shooting rifles too, especially with cast boolits. The 30-06 is s fine cast boolit cartridge and the Springfield bores are excellent.

Aye, I'd give it a space in the rack, though it has a little something that don't look right compared to my later Springfield
...maybe it's with mine having a parkerised finish?
Or is it the M1 web sling??
