Moderators and Tinnitus

So, I appear to have developed tinnitus. Which is rather unpleasant.
Not sure if it's related to shooting, or some other factor but i'm keen to prevent my hearing from deteriorating any further. I do wear cans whenever I shoot, but wondered if it would be a sensible precaution to request slots for moderators for all my applicable firearms? Obviously, a mod won't help when shooting shotguns, or when shooting along side other people. But I guess that it *should* help in reducing the impact of sound waves on my clearly delicate ears (as well as other shooters near me)
Anyone here done similar? I don't do any vermin/stalking just yet and only do target shooting, both indoors and out. Thoughts?

Moderators for target shooting are well accepted by the police, so I would think your "personal interest" angle will work a treat.
As an aside, having briefly had tinnitus at Uni (high stress coupled with the back end of a nasty cold, followed by spectacularly incompetent NHS walk in centre advice) I sympathise.

GMP allow mods for health and safety. I don't hunt and have mod slots for every rifle caliber on ticket.

I suffer with tinnitus. Once you have got it you are stuck with it there is no cure. Sound moderators wont make any difference to your condition a good set of ear muffs is a must.
What you do need to do if you have not all ready is have a scan to make sure it is tinnitus and nothing else. But I guess your GP will have sorted that for you all ready.

And if you do suffer, don't work on a range that uses GPMG 70% of the time. Doh !!!!

General Purpose Machine Gun. They average 15000 rounds a day over 10 lanes, no snoozing on the job with them big boys rattling away

Gimpy is a great piece of kit and lots of fun to shoot, bit of a bugger if you're the one that had to lug it around though.

Not nearly as bad as the M1919A4 I had to lug around in my days in the infantry!
