I've shot Simunition through a Diemaco M4 and it's very realistic. Gives just about as much recoil as you would expect with a .223 and cycles well, although the bolt is a specially lightened one and it doesn't rely on the carbines gas blow back system. The cartridge blows out the front nylon insert to knock the bolt out of lock.

As to the video, the Americans do take this stuff seriously and run similar but not quite as sophisticated, courses in a few ranges I've visited. Then again, they are allowed CCW in most States and above all, are allowed to defend their families, themselves and their property unlike here.

Way to pump up the adrenaline though!

Joe;

The concept of armed defense, albeit unintentional has been tested recently when a couple were subjected to a break-in and attack at their country property. The intruders very definitely came off worse (at the business end of a legally-held shotgun). The owner was subsequently arrested but released fairly quickly and my understanding is that no charges will be brought against the owner of the firearm. Common sense at work ...?

It seems to me that in a similar situation i.e. where you or your family are in extreme danger, it doesn't really matter what you use to protect yourself. It could be a baseball bat, lump of wood, a handy chair or whatever. Just do what you have to do (within reason) and argue about it later. You may well find yourself depending on the judgement of 12 of your peers within a jury but then I truly believe that common sense will prevail. It seems to be the way the tide is turning in that people believe a man has the right to protect his family in his own home ... and long may it continue.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that one if I were you (although I fully support the idea).

Brits prefer to be victims these days, no chance ever of us having armed self defence. I wonder why?

Chuck;

With respect ..... this is one Brit who very definitely does NOT prefer to be a victim! I expect that there will be a few more along very shortly.

during the riots a few years ago some shooters told me on the secound day of rioting some had they shotguns out just in case of looting!!! however when you have wife and young children protecting your family its very unstandable however the vast mojarity of sheeple in this country would rather your wife and child are raped in front you and the house ransacked and burnt to ground then you defending your family from attact with a firearm...however when the police want to do and want to have more guns then the sas the sheeple are all up for it and demand they get even more guns etc

when did this brain washing happen ? we never used to be this pussy ! churchhill and thatcher would be spinning very fast in they graves !
