Hi,
Any top tips on cleaning an AR chamber. Using C2R on the bore (ace..) but the chamber is resisting! Got a SA80 chamber brush, but looks a tad 'aggressive'. Any suggestions?

ETA Bought an AR mop, but the sodding thing wont go in!!

Similar question I was going to ask. I have a chamber brush but as all the rods are made to rotate (when engaged with the rifling) its difficult to get it to rotate by hand in the chamber.

Ever seen the 'chamber sticks' for .303/.308 rifles? Basically a hardwood dowel with a slot at one end and squared enough to grip firmly at the other. 4x2 in the slot, add solvent then jam it in the back end and gizzer a twist. I reckon you could make one for 5.56 with a foot of 9mm dowel.

AR chamber brush

Chamber brushes really only work well with the original GI cleaning rod. The folding T-handle of the rod has a flat section pressed into it, and that section of the rod has a section with flats milled into it.

The idea is that you attach the chamber brush to the section of rod with the handle. You then pull the handle up so that the square section of the handle is clipped over the square section of the rod. Then you stick another rod section through the hole in the handle. This allows you to rotate the chamber brush.

Tough to explain, but dead simple when you see it done.

I have an old pistol rod with a shotgun sized nylon brush on the end. If you want you can wrap some 4x2 around that as well.

Interesting. I feel a bit of dowel coming on.

I use an old pistol PB brush on a longer handle for moving the carbon and general crud and finish off with a fat wooden knitting needle with a slot cut down the end which I stuff some 4x2 doubled up or similar.

Reading that again that sounds a little bit wrong... :-)
