So after the best part of 20 days sitting in customs my new Redding 6.5x47L dies have arived. In the box was a second decapping pin retaining nut, but of a different design to the one fitted and of a different outside diameter.
I was not aware that the 6.5x47 brass came in anything other than small rifle primer,

Whats the score here, anyone know?

Also noticed the set only came with the fitted pin, no spare. The box had fallen open intransit, I wonder if it has fallen out.
Edit: just found second/spare pin in bottom of box In bin.

DM, it could be that when Lapua first made brass for the 6.5x47 it had a large primer. They later changed saying the small primer gave better accuracy.

I have now worked it out, the wider nut on the decapping road assembly is also to open the neck of the brass, most often used with new brass, before sizing with the bushing ring. I can not help but wonder if the case is not made wider again after being pushed through the bushing ring then back over the decapping road assembly.
