Can anyone point me in the direction of courses designed for trainers of safe firearm handling?, I do this at present utilising my Army, Police and aviation experience, but I have been asked to make this role more formal.

Due to the liability in training staff for the safe use of firearms and shotguns within an Airfield, I would appreciate advice on who, what and where such training is available in the UK.

Your really talking land management here rather than target shooting BamBam so perhaps not the most relevant organisation in this case. Sconie do you actually hold any relevant user rather than trainer qualifications yourself already e.g. DSC1/2

Thanks for your replies, although I have a great deal of knowledge and handling of firearms this is all military and personal use. Due to a widespread reorganisation of my company, we are now looking to do most of our training in house.

The problem with our previous external training was that they had safe handling training but shooting clays in no way resembles what my officers have to prepare and train for on a busy Airfield, hence I would like to be certified to deliver the safety aspects of the training whist utilising my operation service Airside to train officers how to discharge their firearms in a manner not risking themselves, aircraft or other structure or personnel Airside.

I am more than comfortable as a qualified trainer in my abilities to train my staff but I would like to hold professional accreditation to satisfy the assurance side of the business.

Then accreditation through something like LANTRA will probably be the route to take.
