You may remember a couple of years ago I saw foxes which were very grey looking rather than red , this morning at 6am I saw this one cross the garden , I just had time grab a camera and snap this shot before it went up the side of the shed . At first I thought it was a large tortoiseshell cat because of the different colours , but no a vixen more red at the front grey at the back with black patches .

How strange is that .

Hi Dave, nice photo mate. We have a vixen and a dog fox living on our property, She is almost a light grey all over with black fur at the back and on the bottom of her legs and feet like boots. When I first saw her I thought she was a coyote until I got a really good look at her and saw she was a fox. They don't half come in some beautiful colours. The fur on the dog fox is a dark red to chesnut colour and he also has the black boots, he's a really a fine specimen.

I leave them alone and let them live on the property but if they start becoming a nuisance, well we'll see.
