Directions onto Otmoor Range Oxfordshire required
Hi, I'm supposed to be going to a meet on the Otmoor Range this Saturday. I've not shot there before. I know how to get as far as Otmoor Lane but don't know where the access point is from there. Is it well sign-posted? Is there some kind of signing in point / checkpoint? I know it's an MOD range so assume there is some kind of formality getting in.
Cheers in advance.

This ought to help you ... ... haven't shot there since 1980, but I used to live near bye.
I hope the maps/sat image show the way.

Can I ask which club shoots there or is it an MOD range?
Re: Directions onto Otmoor Range Oxfordshire required
The Oxfordshire Rifle Association shoots there as does Old Windsor Rifle Club.majordisorder wrote:Can I ask which club shoots there or is it an MOD range?
If I am correct all civilian range bookings are done through the ORA, as the MOD/Landmarc will only deal with one club/association.

Dark Skies,
Once in Beckley pass the pub head down Otmoor Lane you will eventually come across a fork turning on the right where you will see a Red Flag and usual signange etc. Go down there and bingo there you are. Look forward to seeing you then - make yourself know if your first visit. Im due to be RO at some stage so say hello.

Majordisorder,
As SteveE (hi Steve !) advised it is an MOD range which the ORA have a number of bookings during the year.
These consist of Classic and Historic Practises and Meetings - like the one this Saturday. These are turn up, pay and play and often fall back from 100 to 200 in the afternoon.
We have two TR FClass and Service Rifle Open Meetings open to all for a nominal additional surcharge. The meetings in June and September are at 400, 500 and 600 and generally attract some 30 plus shooters. Costs are c. £ 25 and attract all abilities in each class. Good day out - trophies for ORA mambers and bottles for others !!
Full details of all Meetings can be found by googling Oxfordshire Rifle Association - new faces always welcome.

I shoot at Otmoor with Old Windsor RPC. It's a lovely range, well run by a father and son team. They have a mantlet ETR with a handheld radio controller which is great fun.
Only the RCO needs to sign in, everyone else just turns up.
Do drive carefully through the village and watch out for horses, cyclists and runners.
Have fun!
