Sorry if this is a FAQ but I can't find a specific answer...

My current F/TR load is a stout charge of N140 in Lapua brass.

My current batch of brass is on it's 5th reload with no detrimental issues that I can see, cases are only neck sized & have been trimmed but I don't have the facility to anneal them.

My question is do I just keep reusing them until I get a sign that all isn't 100% ok or should there come a point when I bin the batch after x firings?

I would have thought that once neck tension starts to be effected I'll start to see accuracy drop off before anything nasty but would like an answer from a grown up please.

Mick, they will need annealing by now. As the cases are fired/resized the brass starts to work harden which leads to a greater and more inconsistent level of neck tension. Annealing them properly will bring the brass back to factory specification or close, you will see more consistent neck tension and less vertical dispersion.

I'm not seeing any vertical dispersion but this is obviously something I need to look into.

Does anyone offer good "off the shelf" annealing equipment or is time to cue the music?

No need to bin the brass - you can at least clean it and store it until you have an annealing solution. I'm planning to try and make one of these, a brilliantly simple semi-automatic annealer. Once the parts can be identified and sourced it should be dead easy to knock one up.

Tempilaq and a blow torch is all you need, I do find little turn table helpful or you can use the little drill doofurs that a few of us sell.

As is said above all you need is a blow torch some templac a cordless drill and the lee lock studs or Davy's annealing cups
