i rekon some moisture got in these

was checking some of my lupua bullets today and i already knew there was some corrosion on the primer but didnt know how deep it went .... after all iv shot 2 and they were fine

so this is what i found when pulling the bullet

Image

huge amount of corrosion and the powder is just ....well i dunno

all the grains are there but maybe a third of the powder fell out the rest is sticking inside the case and im having to bash the case to get it all out

there just all wet, iv never seen so much moisture in a case , could it of been a fault at factory or has it really just done this over time , im not sure how old they are

i may have to pull the others as i dont reckon the bullet would of even left the barrel ... not to mention leasing a huge damp mess in it, but then this was the worst one

Looks like the powder has decomposed owing to moisture ingress.

I recently unpacked some reloading equipment which had been in storage for over ten years, and powder which had been left in my TargetMaster powder trickler had reacted in a similar fashion and had corroded the tricker tube.

Especially surprising with Lapua ammo.

looks like more than moisture to me ? some sort of chemical reaction by the looks of it , bad anyway ! have you told lapua about the batch ?

That looks like the 170gn D46 bullet which hasn't been around for many years.

Christ, how old is that box?!

May just be an old age thing (bearing in mind military ammo is sealed against this sort of thing)
