ITAR Basics
Please can someone explain the basics of ITAR to me or provide a link?
I've placed an order with a US company for some 10rd mags, springs and a couple of other bits.
Total cost is $99.85 + $24 shipping.
Is postage excluded in the $100 order limit for not needing to fill out forms?
Thanks

Re: ITAR Basics
I may be wrong but I think it includes shipping.
Magazines are often export-restricted (perhaps self-imposed) but I've found a few in the US who sell them to UK residents without issue.

Re: ITAR Basics
ITAR being used as an excuse to cull the US arms import /export trade at all levels for political dogma and spite.
It has gotten to the stupid level as it is now being used to screw the NRA (USA) and foreign students.

Re: ITAR Basics
Bought a stock from Boyds for $97 + $40 posting so the postage doesn't count toward the $100 total.

Re: ITAR Basics
Stupid question BUT do ITAR restrictions only apply to exports by courier? Do they apply to tourists taking gun accessories home in their hold luggage?

Re: ITAR Basics
ITAR is under reform at the moment, and everything else has had proposals and streamlining, except blinkin' firearms/ammunition and parts! Grrrr!

Re: ITAR Basics
How easy it would be for ITAR to be dealt with on production of a UK FAC.
In terms of traceable end user usage.

Re: ITAR Basics
Only problem I've had since ITAR came in was with the TSA removing some bottles of Birchwood Casey Brass Cleaner as it makes nasty fumes if it gets on aluminium. Other than that I've brought back thousands of bullets, cases, reloading equipment (from case trimmers to presses and electronic powder dispensers), scopes, magazines in 16 and 25 round capacities, mag. extension tube, stock kits and other shooting related stuff too numerous to mention. Never had a problem on case inspection apart from the Hazmat thing.

Re: ITAR Basics
I concur wholeheartedly. I am a Defence employee and I am having trouble getting information from potential suppliers because they have been told that under ITAR they aren't even allowed to provide technical information - which we need in order to determine if the product could potentially meet our needs or not - without State Department approval.Chuck wrote:ITAR being used as an excuse to cull the US arms import /export trade at all levels for political dogma and spite.
