Not sure if you realise it ZZR1100 but a shotgun certificate can only be made coterminus at the same time as the grant or renewal of a firearms certificate, and it can't be done the other way around.

Then you will have to wait until December 2019 to make your SGC coterminus.

SGC should be 5 years!

NOT sure if this offer is 100% legal to carry out...

I think that you may have put the wrong expiry date for your FAC. Surely it must be December 2018 if it was issued in December 2013? (5 years)

I think you need to check with tour firearms department because I have previously been informed that it is only possible to issue a coterminus SGC at the time of grant or renewal of a FAC and that this is done by sometimes cutting short the life of an existing SGC. It cannot however be done the other way around i.e. they cannot issue a FAC that is coterminus with an existing SGC.
Perhaps I haven't explained it very well but I'm sure that BASC/NGO or whatever your shooting organisation can explain it better than I can.

yeah my mistake .. FAC expires dec 2018 ..
was told that when sgc expires in july this year it can be renewed for 4 years so it can be coterminous with fac ..
not sure if its worth the bother to be honest !

I'm going through a similarish sort of situation at the moment wrt being granted an SGC when my FAC expires in Feb 2017.

I could tick the box on the application form that says "I want the SGC to expire with my FAC in Feb 2017 and them go coterm".

HOWEVER, with the discussion around fees I feel it's better to let the SGC run for the full 5 years and see what's going on then- I may get 2.5 years after 2017 at the current rate rather than 2.5 years at current rate and then 5 years at god knows what rate (and the buggers might have removed the coterminous deal).

In any case, *I think* I can elect to renew my SGC early and go coterm at FAC renewal.

My FEO advised me similarly to others above- they can cut SGCs down but not FACs, and the forms would appear to support that.
