What is it worth?

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

I have a Barnard P Action with large bolt face that I removed from the stock recently. It had been very tightly bedded so not removed before. Upon inspection I noticed some rust marks, obviously the rifle had got wet at some point, capillary action had dragged some moisture in resulting in some minor rust marks.

Round count is around 350 shots on the action and it is perfect in every way other than these cosmetic blemishes which are all below the water line. Would anyone care to suggest a value for such an action?

The new price is £1100 or so

Taking 2nd hand, minor rust and little usage I don't think £800 - £ 900 would be excessive.

Minor surface rust does not affect strength or accuracy and great actions are scarce!
Round count of 350 is very low for a action generally good for 15,000 to 20,000
