Looking for a really low-profile Rail Mount

Morning all.
I'm wondering whether it's possible to get rid of the carry handle on the G22 and replace it with something more low-profile, then use the right rings to get the scope to height and add backup iron sights instead of the coat hanger at the front.
I've been considering how to mount the rail and the options seem fairly slim if you want it to be low profile or less intrusive.
IMO the best mount would be similar to JMeck's Mosin mount, using some flat steel to hold a riser on top, then being tightened underneath to suit barrel diameter where it can be hidden from view. Then a standard rail could be screwed into the riser.
Anyone know if anything like this is around? Any other options for barrel-mounting that wouldn't involve taking a grinder to the stock (not visible places at least)?
I've whipped up a "Render" using my mad design skills.
The only other option that I can see would be some sort of shotgun style rail, attached to the stock, not ideal.
Cheers
Dean
