AR15: Such light recoil, you could put on over your balls and fire.
AK47: Recoil manageable enough for anyone to use it.
Mosin-Nagant: Recoil that registers as small tremors in the earth itself.

AR15: Clean with fancy lubes and solvents with special tools.
AK47: Clean? In Soviet Russia AK clean you!
Mosin-Nagant: Squirt some Windex down the bore. Ready for another 500 rounds tomorrow!

AR15: Goes pew pew pew AK47:
Goes pow pow pow Mosin-Nagant:
Goes BOOOOOOOM!

AR15: You are careful to keep in clean in the field.
AK47: You don’t worry so much about some dirt getting in it.
Mosin-Nagant: It still has gritty grease inside it from when the Finnish army put it into storage.

AR15: Nice useful little round.
AK47: Very functional round.
Mosin-Nagant: Anti Tank Round

AR15: High cost, high maintenance.
AK47: Low cost, low maintenance.
Mosin-Nagant: What are these cost and maintenance things you speak of?

AR15: You have a never ending list of high dollar tacticool accessories.
AK47: You have a never ending list of Chinese made tacticool accessories.
Mosin-Nagant: You have carry strap and ammo what more you need comrade?

AR15: You measure your misses by sub MOA measurements
AK47: You miss and, and aim a bit lower this time.
Mosin-Nagant: Even if you miss the shockwave of the bullet will kill the animal.

AR15: Inspired by science fiction
AK47: Inspired by a need for a reliable, selectable-fire weapon
Mosin-Nagant: Inspired by men with balls. Men with HUGE, HAIRY BALLS

I like that :good:

I would disagree on the Chinese tacticool stuff on an AK.You just need a sling, a couple of taped together Bakelite mags (Russian Izolenta blue tape of course!) and a Soviet issue wound tourniquet wrapped around the stock. When it comes to "Tacticool" stuff on an AK I think Mikhail sums it up nicely......

I feel they work. And they've been around a while now....

But Mark, the forward vertical grip is nearly as old as some of them....

Thompson 1928, Sten MkV, Owen SMG, MP40 (to a certain degree), M60E3, MP5K..... Even the Bren gun was instructed upon to use the carrying handle as such. The 1919 .30cal Browning with the spigot mount was advocated so!

...or even older, ya muppet

The FIRST assault rifle, from WW1, had a vertical front grip.

I read that when the US military first issued the Thompson they asked for the grip to be removed as it interfered with natural grip. They may have been around for years but all of a sudden every darn gun is spouting one - WHY???? \even Glasgow Aiprot plod suddenly started using them - along with half of "accessories r US"

If they DO work Sim could there maybe something wrong with the previous grip method - or just too much bling bolted on to the firearm???

Blackstuff: OLD UNS? **** **** **** **** I'll have you know that old age and treachery beats youth and skill every time!

In my opinion forward grips etc etc on an AK spoil the balance and very essence of what an AK is all about, which is that it is simple to produce, simple to maintain and simple to shoot.
The one concession I will make is the Romanian lower handguard with forward grip......because its laminated wood not plastic.
