Leupold PRW vs Nightforce steel rings

I'm looking to mount a Nightforce NXS 8-32 x 56 using steel non-adjustable non-quick-release rings on a weaver/picatinny rail. The Leupold and Nightforce rings both seem to fit the bill, but the NF are 3 times the price.
  • Is there anything to choose between them?
  • Anything to justify the price difference?
  • Anything else I should be considering?
Thanks for any tips.

Why wouldn't you use Third Eye Tactical rings? British made, top quality, available, (Osprey Rifles) any colour.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Only because, until now, I wasn't aware of them, they are still double the price of the Leupold rings, and they aren't steel. Some of these points might not be relevant, but I'd still like to know whether the Leupold rings are just cheap cr*p, and whether the Third Eye and Nightforce ones are worth double or triple respectively.

Or direct from Third Eye...

What ever rings you get, no matter how robust they look, they will only be attached to your receiver with four crappy little screws (that hold the rail on) - unless you have an action with an integral rail. Why lug around steel rings when Third Eye rings will do the job just as well. They really are a top quality product. Osprey carry a full range and can Cerakote them in any colour if you don't want black.

Leupold rings should be good quality but they do sell a budget ring - you see them in Walmart for about $15.

What height rings are you looking for?

I have a set of high Leupold Mark 4 Tactical steel rings, that were mounted, then I sold the scope they carried. Mint condition....

That is my next conundrum. How do I work that out apart from trial and error?

The description at that link says they are aluminium? - and I'm still wondering what is so s**t about the PRW that they are 1/3 of the price of these.

Mine are definitely steel. Machined from a block of steel is going to leave a lot of waste. Are the PRW's not alloy?

The Leupold Mk4 rings are actually available in both alluminium and steel.... Same price for either one according toothed Leupold website, except for 34mm rings which are dearer.

No, they are also apparently machined from solid steel.

But now I think I see the reason whay they are so much cheaper: they aren't 'tactical':
