Need a new gun.....

I'm really keen to get one of the Walther made Uzis now they are starting to appear at reasonable prices, the only thing is that I can't afford to shell out the cash and still feed the kids...solution = sell one of my existing rifles to free up some readies.

As I've never sold a gun before, would the advice be to sell privately and go as a cash buyer for an Uzi, or to see what part-ex I could get against the rifle I want to sell? I presume most dealers would offer some sort of 'trade-in'??

Cheers

David

Selling privately will get you more cash...

Price your gun competitively and it will sell. Guns are expensive to buy, but you would not believe how cheap they are to get rid of. Be realistic. 650 for an AIA? With some stuff that's been written about those guns, I'd say no chance. Gun selling sites and classified sections of forums are full of guns that haven't sold. Not because they are undesirable per se, but because people think they're worth a lot more than they are.

Hang on is possibly a way to go. The Uzi is new to the market. Give other people the chance to buy, use and move on. You may get a deal....

Too true Sim....It's OK for a dealer to hang onto stock and wait for a stupid price but if you are just a shooter you have to be realistic when selling.

I just shifted a Parker Hale T4 last night for £100.00 quite happy, no time to p*** about.

Mind you it works both ways, most of my guns have been bought at bargain prices by being in the right place at the right time.

Check out the for sale section, UZI for £400 with 3 mags, laser etc, not a bad saving.

Have you seen the new MP40 22LR - saw one at the Shooting Show - looked like a pretty faithful replica

Oh aye I'd rather it wasn't there, but given the OP is looking at an UZI which also has a can on it then I thought it might be of interest:

I don't mind the moderator on an uzi, but they never put them on the MP40's, so it's a historical faux pas for me. I'm sure it's fun though.

Funnily enough have a look on google, turns out someone in the war actually did silence mp40's - prototype I think rather than entered into service!
