Self Defence, from MidWay UK

#1 Post by Tower75 »

Hi, all.

While I certainly agree that self-defence is a universe-given right written into the stars, I'm also very aware that we live in the U.K., where you can be arrested for tickling someone too hard, and where the police will tell you off for having a cricket-bat beside your bed as that's: forethought for assault, or something. Even though we all have stabby, sharp knives in our kitchens.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this: Self Defence section from MidWayUK:

http://www.midwayuk.com/epages/Midway_U ... 0946/20921

Look at all thoses bats and hitting things. I'm very surprised they're allowed to sell them here, though, you don't seem to get the "add to cart" option for some of them.

Before I get the: "Why shouldn't you be allowed, it's just steel sticks" talk - come on, you know what I'm saying, get "caught" with one and you probably have to explain it to Mr. Plod.

You can also buy woman's "pistol handbags", too. Er, why? We're not allowed handguns for self defence.

I thought items such as this:

http://www.midwayuk.com/epages/Midway_U ... cts/152394

Were only available to police officers and not to the general public

And the tactical pen is mightier than the sword..

......especially now a "sword" has to be less than 3" long and made from non-hurty organic porridge ****

I think we can still own springy sticks. As long a you don't own them for any purpose related to using them.

The above was a gift to my brother a couple of years ago. Don't think he has used it to smash a window yet ;)

You'd never get convicted for premeditation if you'd did order any of this stuff from Midway because there isn't a lawyer in the land that could prove you'd know when the item would be off back order or how long Midway would take to post it!!!

Seems a bit expensive to me. I'm forever tripping over the old WWI springfield bayonet that someone left under my bed. Long, shiny and kept sharp for not much money.
