The gun, which he was told had been deactivated, had "sat in a cupboard for about 25 or 30 years," he added.
Maybe it called the Police on it's self, for abandonment maybe? I wonder what they were searching his home for when they stumbled upon this gun?

Hmmmm, what is the bet that he will get off scot free because he is a Councillor and therefore above us mere mortals.
If it was a Chief Constable that it happened to, you can guess that it would never have come to court. Or am I overreacting and too suspicious?

No, just wrong.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

I'd imagine due to some domestic altercation and Mrs Councillor knew of it's existence.... Pay back can be a bitch....

Poor bugger. Automatic five years, open and shut, for a lump of dusty old metal.

Given its provenance could someone not apply to have it as a S7?

Gaz, you say automatic 5 years, is this actually the case? I ask because I am sure I have read of a couple of recent cases where people were handed down substantially shorter sentences.
