Reloading the 6,5-284 with lighter bullets

I always shoot the 6,5-284 with 139 Scenar bullets however I have been thinking about trying lighter bullets for sub 600 yard work. Has anyone tried this cartridge with bullets in the 120-130 grain range?

123gr Sierra Match Kings work really well out to 800 yds + good BC with the HPBT design.
Let me know if you want some load suggestions.

52gr of N160 or IMR4831 produce very tight groups at longer ranges with the 123gr Sierras. I've tried several other powders with less success.

Many thanks, I should have some N160 here and we already use H4831 however it is the SC variant so I would need to check on that.

I was going to start another thread about Norma bullets but here will do!
Norma make a 130gn HPBT bullet called Golden Target or Diamond Line (moly version)

I have read some very good reviews. They apparently have very high bc.

I emailed the importers, RUAG, to be told none in stock and none on order please contact local distributor etc.
I have found a German distributor who appear to have them and can send to UK. My German is dire!
180 Euros for 500,so about £30 a 100 plus some postage. Midwayuk £217 for 500!!
I would have 500 to try out.
Would be happy to order via a dealer on the forum depending on how long it takes to get some and price.
What say you?

Tony - sounds like they are worth looking at and I have the paperwork if required.
I shot some Norma .308 168 Diamond line factory ammunition through my AI a few years ago. It is very nicely produced and superbly accurate at 600 yards, the only problem was the brass was worthless afterwards, every single of the 100 cases had a very loose primer pocket which was annoying.

Been doing some research myself and you'll have about 100-200fps on me with similar bullet weights!

Not a huge difference really. I want to look for a slower accuracy node this year so we may end up quite evenly matched. Be warned, I will be experimenting with my bullets...

:lol: So will I! Loaded up 50 rounds with 100gn SMK's only to find that I'm now out of H414! :cool2:
Found a load for N160 - might have to investigate that. The 75gn V-max bullet was very accurate...speed or the better BC of the SMK's?
