Agreed, the York one is a good day out. Have they still got that Halifax exhibit and the Mosquito being rebuilt?

Fort Nelson's definitely worth a visit. Lots of interesting guns and small arms, plus the fortifications themselves.

If you ever find yourself in Shrewsbury with a few hours spare then the KSLI regimental museum in the Castle is worth a visit, some nice historic military firearms etc on display.

+1 for this.
Nice compact museum with very good exhibits.

Went to Bletchley Park last weekend with the Mrs and enjoyed it. Lovely weather helped, but interesting to see the work that was being done to crack codes, and to see how the site progressed as more and more people were sent there to help with the efforts.

Particular highlight for me was seeing the Bombe Replica working.

The Nuclear Bunker is worth a visit, but they only allow a few visitors at a time. It is an English Heritage site and the guided tour is very interesting.

Seeing as there aren't just shooting related venues in here, I can thoroughly recommend the British Wildlife Centre;

Went there at the weekend and had a great day viewing animals I'd struggle to see in the wild (red squirrels, scottish wildcats, pine martins and stoats for a start). For the red squirrels you get to walk through their enclosure and they come very close, as seen in one of my pics from the day.

Duxford or Bovington when you just need to go and hug a tank. Spent too much time at both photographing rivets and other details! Plus Duxford has planes as well. The 8th Airforce hanger is like walking into a lads bedroom except the model kits hanging off the ceiling are real!
