Anyone have any info on a short hop Pistol shooting club..?

#1 Post by TattooedGun »

Anyone got any info on somewhere on the continent where me and my father (both firearms licence holders) might be able to hop across (either a short hop plane, or a small drive off a ferry/Eurostar) to and be able to rent a range of handguns for target shooting in a range...?

I just got back from the states again, and whilst I got to shoot my friends 9mm Sig and Glock, I didn't actually get to shoot a range of rental weapons... when i went (in Massachusetts) to the range on my own, they wouldn't hire anything to me because I was on my own, and since I was travelling alone, i couldn't get anyone to go on with me, even the guys behind the counter wouldn't take me on and babysit me...

So basically i want to get across to France/Germany/West Europe and get on a range and shoot some .357/.45's/.40's/.38's etc etc...

My dad used to own pistols and keeps telling me he'd show me how to do it, and when i mentioned I'd like to go to the continent to shoot, he said he'd go too... So does anyone have any places they've been that are not stupidly expensive and are open to let people come in and try their hand at it without fear of them shooting themselves or someone else (Effing Americans!!)...

I'll assume that my head being firmly in the sand when it comes to current affairs, you're making a comment on some recent event that involved shooting in Manchester...

If thats the case, I'd suggest, probably not... :p

Froggy has a handle on some shooting in Eastern Europe I believe.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

My mum lives in Wythenshawe, Manchester.
Me, why are there flowers on the verge by the petrol station?
Mum, somebody was shot and killed there last week.
Me, ok

Yes, see if froggy can help - or try being nice to one of the Irish clubs perhaps. Switzerland is also an alternative maybe?

Have fun.

Wonder why they would not rent to you when you were alone...strange one that is.

Coppens Shooting Club
Knokke-Heist
Belgium

About 90mins drive from Calais.

I'm not sure if you can just turn up and shoot with a rented pistol, but they are on the web -- give Paul Coppens a call -- he speaks excellent English, and is a really friendly guy.

Any reason no one has pointed out the obvious one? (just across the channel, English speaking, UK FAC holders welcome etc)?

Coppens is OK but the range itself lets it down,
Small and pokey!
