Just about to pick up my 260 rem rifle.
I have 1000`s of 123gn/139gn and 140gn bullets.
I am interested to find out if any of you have tried the L bullets in 260 or 6.5 x 47.
Cheers,
Tony

Not used the L versions but both 123s and 139s shoot great in my 260s using N550 & N560 respectively

What ranges do you shoot at?
As the Scenar L was designed to go past 1200m, with more velocity & energy than the standard Scenar.
Imho, not worth it unless you shoot past 1200m.

Having said that, if you find the right load, you may get a flatter trajectory, no harm in experimenting :good:

I've never heard of this before. They have the same aerodynamic profiles as non-L versions, and are just produced with manufacturing refinements to tighter tolerances. The product materials mention the following disciplines, most of which take place between 300m and 1000 yards: ISSF, CISM, Benchrest, F-Class, Silhouette, High Power Across the Course & Long Range. Where does 1200m+ come into it?

..

That's what I was told by a blokey at Lapua. But then again, he was one of the guy's responsible for the military applications. So I suppose he was talking about long range sniping.
But what you have pointed out above, certainly makes sense.

I have also had a look at Lapua page with the Scenar-L, and the calibers listed, I'm not so sure what he was talking about now.
I suppose it could be what the L was originally developed for, but they've found it's better at other things.

Or

I've got it completely wrong, if so please free to give me a virtual slap for talking bo...cks troutslapping

Yup, the 260 rem, is a really nice round, I've not shot the 6.5x47mm so I can't say much on that one, but I've heard it's pretty good.
But at the end of the day the tighter tolerances will only produce more consistency.

I experimented with the 136 grain Type L with the Vikings 6,5x284 however I was not convinced the extra cost was worth anything over batching the standard 139 Scenar. I will get out with the 120 grain with my AI 6,5x47 at some point.

Let us all know how you get on with them David.
